Setting up and weaving on a 4‑shaft loom: In this 2‑day workshop, you’ll learn every step of the weaving process - from a simple spool of yarn to a finished handwoven piece of cloth. It’s a wonderful deep‑dive for anyone who wants to understand the full craft of weaving and gain confidence working independently on a loom. What to expect: You’ll begin by choosing your colours from a selection of organic cotton yarns. I’ll guide you through measuring your warp on the warping mill and then take you step‑by‑step through the complete process of setting up a 4‑shaft loom. Once the warp is on the loom, the weaving can begin. You’ll work with a simple pattern so you can focus on finding a steady weaving rhythm. During the workshop, you’ll weave a piece of cloth approximately 150 cm long and 30 cm wide. If you prefer, you can divide the warp to create several smaller pieces instead of one long length. A note about the workshop: This course is fairly intensive. Setting up and threading the loom takes up one of the two days and can be physically demanding, especially on the back. I recommend this workshop for those who are considering buying a loom, want to continue weaving in the future, or already own a loom and would like to learn how to set it up properly.
